We are in high gear getting ready to open for the season on the first day of spring which is 9 days away! It is so nice to have a warm week and finally see the snow melting away. I have bare ground exposed on the south side of my house and by my driveway. Bring on the snowdrops and crocuses. Let the witch hazels unfold their blossoms. It’s time!
The end of March is the ideal time to start your warm weather plants indoors- tomatoes, peppers, eggplants are examples. When we open a week fromFriday we will be fully stocked with organic pottingsoil, seed starting supplies, and of course SEEDS galore! One of my favorite winter jobs is to constantly restock the seed racks as we drag them around to all kinds of off-site events. Last weekend we were at the N.O.F.A. conference and the Hardy Plant Society symposium.
We are planning a fun event for the last weekend in March. We will be having a Seed Sowing Workshop on Saturday and Sunday. We will open many packages of tomato, pepper, and eggplant seeds. Participants will be able to sow a mixed flat of warm season plants. We will provide the seedling trays, plastic greenhouse cover, organic potting soil, seeds, and labels. If you have ever thought to yourself that you wish you could sow tiny amounts of a wide variety of seeds, this is your chance. There will be one workshop each day. Cost will be $25. Details are below. Register EARLY; class size is limited to 8 participants and it will be held in our greenhouse here at Natureworks.
I’ll see you very soon…
