Natureworks is a small garden center, located in a former private home built in 1900. Because of our small size, we do not strive to carry room after room of gardening supplies. Instead, we stock the gardening supplies that our 4 crews and our retail staff use EVERY DAY in our own gardens and those of our clients. Through the years, we have found the essential items that make gardening easier and things that we simply can’t live without! Below is a list of some of the MANY items we offer. Stop in often to see what new gardening supplies we have discovered lately…
TOOLS
We specialize in high quality tools, hand selected and often trialed by our staff. These include long and short handled shovels, digging forks, edging tools, cultivators, and much more. Because Natureworks employs more than 20 women gardeners during the growing season, we carry many tools that are designed for women.

A few of our favorite tools are:
- Garden sickle- this handy-dandy tool was originally designed as a Japanese harvest knife for cabbages. We use it to slice through perennials and cut them down, thus avoiding the repetitive motion when using pruning shears. This is our most popular hand tool!
- Hori Hori knife- this is another oriental tool that means “chop chop”. It comes in a leather holster and is perfect for cutting through the roots of plants when dividing. It can also be used as a trowel when planting annuals or bulbs.
- Flame weeder- this propane torch is ideal for BURNING weeds on contact! It also comes in handy in the winter to melt ice.
- Spear Head Spade- this durable spade has sharpened edges that make it perfect for digging in tough, rocky soils.

Stakes- bamboo, metal, and wooden including hardwood stakes in 3-4-5’ heights for tomatoes and other vegetables, and 6’ tall thick and natural bamboo stakes for making green bean and vine tipis.
Supports- Grow thru grids, link stakes, bendable metal arm stakes, and more make up our ever-changing line of plant supports. If it works and we like to use it, we sell it! See many of our supports on display holding up the plants in our demonstration gardens.
Tomato cages- because we sell hundreds of organic tomato seedlings each year, we naturally stock the cages to support them!
Peony hoops- Peonies are one of the most beloved old fashioned flowers. Unfortunately, when they bloom, it usually rains! Voluptuous, double flowers tend to fall over due to the weight of their flower petals. We sell double ring peony hoops, an investment in your peony garden future.
Trellises- our trellis selection varies. We usually carry sturdy and basic cedar trellises as well as decorative metal trellises.
Ergonomic tools- We have found that many of our customers need a little extra help as they grow older with their gardens. Natureworks stocks a variety of ergonomic tools, specifically designed to make gardening easier.
Gloves- we carry many brands of gardening gloves including West County Gardener, Foxgloves, and Atlas nitrile gloves for working with wet soil.
