Early in the year we make sure we have a wide assortment of seeds to bring to the Connecticut Flower and Garden Show which is held during late February. Then when our retail shop opens for the season (usually the first day of spring) we set up the racks so you can pick out all of those seeds you've been dreaming about all winter long. Seed starting mix and containers for seed starting are a few of the products you'll find to help you get a head start when setting up indoors while the temperature outisde is still cool.

Planting seeds during the spring and summer can often be done directly into the ground if the temperature doesn't dip below the temps noted on the packet.

Mid to late summer is the time to plant your cold season crops for fall harvesting.

We usually close for the Winter on December 23rd. While you may not be PLANTING seeds at that time, it's a fantastic time to start PLANNING what you'd like to grow next year. Think about those gaps you'd like to fill with something colorful, Recall what you harvested from your vegetable garden and what changes you'd like to make. Try to rotate crops and try something new each year just as an experiment. Plant a row for the hungry and share your nutritional bounty!
